Tom said last night that Julie will present tonight's programme. I wonder if Martin McGuinness's death means that Tom will present it tonight because of McGuinness's prominence in politics on these islands and the fact that Tom was Ireland correspondent for ITN in the mid-90s.

When you think about it Alastair is just as likely to inject his own opinions and personality into his delivery but he does it so much more naturally it's not really noticed.
Do any of the stand in presenters adopt Tom's conversational style of presenting when they do News at Ten, or just present as a normal bulletin?
