More Rights News:

Channel 5 to cover Highlights of the 2017 MotoGP season, like with ITV4 the highlights will be broadcast on the Monday after the race weekend. I also believe like with World Rally & Formula E which have moved from ITV4 to Channel 5 in the last year ITV dropped these events rather than Channel 5 took the rights from them.

Good to see Channel 5 making an investment in sport again in the last few years after they lost the Europa League rights they only seemed to have England Cricket Highlights but now they have Boxing, Football League Highlights, Big Bash League and the motorsport mentioned above.

It's a decent portfolio they have now.
Coverage of the MotoGP highlights is a fairly easy beast to do. Just pay BT Sport to provide their highlights of the race, and blur out the Dorna #racename graphic at the bottom right of the screen.

Haven't Channel 5 also got another BT Sport 'scraps from the rights table' coming up?
I thought there was another sport which is mostly exclusive to BTS that channel 5 will show a handful of games live as well coming up over the next couple of months.

Or was that the Big Bash League?

ITV's MotoGP highlights programme came complete with a BT Sport endcap. (Slightly unusual, since BT Sport programmes don't tend to have endcaps themselves.)

Meanwhile, BT Sport have been showing some of this year's World's Strongest Man - complete with Channel 5 endcap.

As dvboy said there is a rumour stating that from next season Channel 5 were going to take AVIVA Premiership Rugby highlights from ITV4 and instead of BT Sport Showcase having so many free to air live games Channel 5 were going to show them instead a bit like the Big Bash League.

Even more unusual given the fact North One TV produced the coverage for BT Sport therefore wasn't even a BT Sport production.

Does seem like ITV4 are switching their focus to more live sport - as well as the racing they do tend to have something every other week or so now.

Losing the Premiership rugby would be a shame though - they've done a great job with it and it's practically the only thing ITV4 show which gets an outing on ITV itself (at a not-too unreasonable hour at least). However with the World Cup rights now secured through to 2023 and them now having the Six Nations plus some other World Rugby rights they could afford to drop it without dropping their commitment to the sport.

Daily Mail reported it as fact:

The Aviva Rugby Premiership will be shown live on terrestrial television for the first time next season following a new highlights contract being agreed with Channel 5.
The deal is understood to include provision for C5 to broadcast five games per season live in a simulcast with major rights holders BT Sport. Under the current ITV4 deal, only highlights can be shown.

Agree ITV4 have a fair bit of live sport, off the top of my head you have
* Live Horse Racing nearly every week
* 5 PDC Darts Tournaments Live (as well as some delayed tournaments)
* 4 Live Snooker Tournaments
* Rugby World Cup (Men, Youth & Women's)
* French Open Tennis
* BTCC
* Tour de France & Other Cycling

Charles Sale is behind this article so I wouldn't have it as fact yet.

So in the FA Cup it'll be Spurs v Chelsea on BBC One and Man City v Arsenal on BT Sport.

BNP Paribas Open - Indian Wells

Tournament organisers decided to advance ATP final to 1pm local leaving only two hours to complete WTA final and presentations. No problem for BT Sport, Sky however brought forward to 1pm Local / 8pm GMT their ATP final coverage, It's now 8.30 pm the WTA final is a humdinger and is only one game into the third set. Sky look likely to need to fill well over an hour's airtime to get to the start of the match.

9pm (an hour behind .... so far) WTA final at 4-4 Final Set....
