Still amazes me how much Sky and BT will pay for football rights when they are relatively short term. Also be interesting to see how the Brexit battered pound affects the bidding, which I assume is probably done in Euros or Dollars.
Let's hope for a joint deal between BT and/or Sky and possibly ITV.
The Champions League has been losing viewers thanks in part to BT shelling out for all of the rights.
Whilst I see BT's approach in having the rights to themselves and showing a few games FTA, they made a massive error in not sub-licensing a game a week to a FTA terrestrial. Whether UEFA will take the drop in viewers into consideration will be interesting.
For the record I have no complaints about BT's CL coverage, they do a good job.
Seems to be a challenging match to cover - Radio Leeds were falling off air regularly through the build up due to the ISDN failing, I think they were taking 5 Live's coverage at one point
